Great place to stop on your way through. The place is pet friendly although it is highly recommended that you keep your pooches on a leash and don't let them near the creek behind the rest stop as it has fresh water Crocs and they've just recently taken 2 unrestrained dogs.
Keep your van well out from under the trees as they are absolutely full of Bats. They do have a car / van wash off area if you happen to be popped on through the night.
It has a little restaurant next to the pub which served good meals at reasonable prices. Fuel prices were reasonable for where they are. Staff was friendly.
Very disappointing that for a double room cost of $160 a night you get 2 paper cups, different sizes and plastic cups for water. At that price I would expect a proper coffee mug and glass for water. No water jug in the fridge. Couldn't watch TV as the TV was around the corner from the bed. Don't think I could recommend this to anyone.
Public toilet was disgustingly dirty and couldn't be used after we checked out.
Today I stopped at timber creek to refuel and get some food at 2pm Wednesday. Husband went in and looked at food while I held out dog on lead in park then we swapped over. I went into toilet first. Thank god I had my phone. While I was in the toilet a staff member came along and locked the gated door with a padlock locking me in. I didnt realise what was happening. When I came out of cubicle and realised I had a panic attack. I rang my husband who came straight over. As he had dog he had to ask somebody else to go in and get help. Staff member came out and unlocked but then chastised me for not saying something when he was
Locking it. Why didn’t he yell
Out or check if any customers were inside first. Other ladies then asked if they could use the toilets but were asked to wait awhile as they needed to keep them
Locked because of all the locals that were in park outside. It seriously gave me a panic attack wondering what I would have done if I didn’t have my phone and I was travelling alone.
The accommodation was basic but adequate. Giving the full five stars for the freshwater croc and whistling kite feeding. The kites are especially cool. The freshies weren't overly hungry for to beat numbers of fruit bats which have recently moved into the tree overlying the creek and generously fall into the water at regular intervals. The croc numbers are down since the floods washed most of them downstream too.
Stayed upstairs in a motel room. Spacious room. Very clean with good linen and blankets. New bathroom and in nice clean condition. Used the camp kitchen and was clean with good bbq's. Really nice setting for vans and camping, shady, and all very well maintained. Great pool to cool off after a long drive. Staff all really freindly and happy to help out with all queries from initial phone booking to check in and check out.
Thank you team.
We camped here for the night $45 for 2 people and an extra $14 per person, found the $14 P/P extra expensive to camp on grass, but the bats are the main issue, there are thousands and thousands of them flying overhead all night, found it quite hard to sleep with screaming Bats all night. Bathroom facilities are old and need up grading.
We enjoyed the night there, loved the bats, nice watching them all take off, we were not worried about them, staff were friendly, we will come again
We had a nice shady drive thru. Amenities were rustic but clean with plenty of hot water. Croc feeding was entertaining. Good value stop over. …
